Why Wellness Can’t Be a Luxury Anymore

For too long, wellness has been treated like a luxury. Boutique gyms with high price tags, exclusive supplements marketed to a select few, recovery tools that only top athletes or the wealthy can access. These have become the face of the industry. But if wellness is only for the privileged, we’ve missed the point. The future of health isn’t about exclusivity. It’s about integration, accessibility, and making wellness a baseline standard for everyone.

The Current State of Wellness

Wellness is booming. It’s a multi-trillion-dollar industry that continues to grow every year. And yet, the people who need it most often can’t access it. Memberships at premium clubs are out of reach for most. High-end treatments like IV therapy, red light therapy, or cryotherapy are priced for the few. Even wearable technology (adopted by nearly half of Americans) still skews toward early adopters and those with disposable income. Wellness, as it stands, has become a symbol of status instead of a standard of living.

Why This Model Is Broken

When wellness is positioned as a reward, not a baseline, it reinforces the divide between those who can afford to prioritize health and those who can’t. The consequences are bigger than individuals. Communities suffer. Healthcare costs rise. Productivity drops. And most importantly, people miss out on the chance to live longer, healthier, more fulfilling lives. If we continue treating wellness as a luxury, we’re not just leaving people behind but more so holding society back.

The Shift That’s Coming

The next generation isn’t buying into this outdated model. Millennials and Gen Z aren’t looking for wellness as a perk. They expect it to be part of daily life. They want fitness, recovery, preventative health, and community built into their routines and they’re willing to invest in experiences that bring those elements together. We’re also seeing corporations shift their focus from treating illness to preventing it. They recognize that healthier employees mean stronger businesses. The signals are clear: the demand for integrated, accessible wellness is only growing.

The question is… who will build it?

How HUMN Fits In

I left corporate America to help answer that question. HUMN was built on a simple belief: wellness should be as standard as having a desk at work or a cup of coffee in the morning. It shouldn’t be locked behind high prices or exclusive memberships. That’s why HUMN is designed as an ecosystem:

  • Performance: Fitness, coworking, and recovery in one space.

  • Health: A longevity clinic offering proactive care.

  • Media: Supporting health and wellness brands get in front of audience from effectively.

We’re breaking down the silos between health, work, and community because when wellness becomes a standard, not a luxury, everyone benefits.

Final Thoughts

The wellness industry doesn’t need more exclusivity. It needs more accessibility and inclusion. The next wave of wellness will be about integration, prevention, and community and I believe HUMN can help lead that movement. This is why I took the leap and this is why I’ll keep building.

If you share this vision whether as an investor, founder, or partner, I’d love to connect. Together, we can make wellness the standard it should have always been.
