Finding Flow as a Founder

There are moments in life where everything begins to click into place. Not in a dramatic way but in a quiet realization that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. The work still demands everything from you but it begins to feel different. You go to bed completely drained but wake up with excitement.

Over the last year of building HUMN, I have started to recognize that feeling more often. What once felt like an idea I was exploring has turned into something that is beginning to exist in the real world. Partnerships are forming, people are reaching out to become founding members, and the vision that lived inside a notebook is slowly becoming tangible.

That shift changes how you approach each day.

Entering Flow

It took a long time for me to understand what it feels like to operate in a true flow state. I had experienced glimpses of it earlier in my life without fully recognizing what it was. When I was competing as an athlete, there were seasons where training felt automatic. The body and mind were aligned and the work felt effortless even when it was difficult.

I also experienced it during parts of my career in corporate. There were periods where I was working on large deals with clients and everything felt synchronized. Expectations were clear, communication was smooth, and the momentum between both sides created a rhythm that made the work exciting.

Now I feel that same rhythm again while building HUMN. It’s truly electric.

Protecting the Energy

Once you recognize a flow state, the next challenge… becomes protecting it. Life does not pause just because you have found alignment in your work. There are still distractions, obligations, and unexpected events that can pull your attention in different directions.

I have become much more intentional about where my time and energy go. That sometimes means letting go of things that once felt important. It could be certain meetings, partnerships that are not aligned, or simply commitments that no longer fit the season of life I am in. The goal is not to control everything. The goal is to maintain the clarity that allows you to keep building forward.

The Power of Energy

One concept I have been thinking about often over the last six months is the idea of energy. Some people describe it as presence, others call it frequency or vibration. However it is described, there is something real about the way energy transfers between people.

You can feel it when someone walks into a room and immediately changes the atmosphere. Think about a speaker like Tony Robbins standing on stage and how the energy of an entire arena shifts. The same thing happens in smaller moments as well, when someone brings excitement, focus, or calm into a conversation.

Music is another example. The rhythm of salsa music moves the body differently than the rhythm of country music, but both have the ability to create movement and emotion. The energy created by those sound waves transfers directly into how people respond.

Building With Intention

As HUMN continues to take shape, I can feel that same energy building around the vision. It reminds me of the seasons in my life when I was most aligned with what I was doing. The difference now is that the energy is not coming from competition or individual performance. It is coming from the act of building something that has the potential to help people live healthier lives.

Every meeting, partnership, and conversation becomes an opportunity to evaluate alignment. I try to approach those interactions with an open mind while paying attention to how the energy between people feels over time. Sometimes it leads to a partnership and sometimes it leads to a lesson. Either way, every interaction teaches something…

Reflection

Looking back, I realize that flow does not happen by accident. It is created when purpose, effort, and alignment come together at the right time. When that happens, the work becomes something more than a job or a project. It becomes something that feels like it was meant to be built. I do not know exactly what every step of the journey with HUMN will look like. What I do know is that I have reached a place where the work feels deeply aligned with who I am and what I want to contribute and that right there… is magic.

When you find that kind of flow, the responsibility becomes simple. Protect it and keep building.
